A Homemade Christmas, something for everyone

Ok guys.....I know so many of you hate thinking of Christmas before Thanksgiving (I'm really trying).....BUT if you are going to make any gifts this year, you probably need to at least  begin brainstorming right now.  I feel like homemade gifts get a bad rap.....but here are some ideas that will (hopefully) turn that around:
1. Leather clutch via DesignLoveFest
2. for your little one or a niece/nephew via

3.  His/Hers flannel scarves via

4. First Christmas, aren't these darling?

5. Stocking stuffer, leather tassel keychain (similar to the one I made)

Playing catch up...Lonny favorites

After a fun-filled weekend, I finally had a chance to sit down and browse Lonny's November issue.  I've already seen a couple of these images floating around the internet, so I apologize ahead of time if they are repeats for you.  This first image graced the cover for good reason, isn't it beautiful?

I love this workspace.....the mix of chairs, the rug, and pops of coral make for an interesting room.

I'm loving the artichoke for a table setting

I love the blend of modern, bohemian(head chairs), and vintage styles in this room.

Scenes from My Weekend

Hello there, and a happy belated Veteran's Day.  I am forever grateful to the sacrifices made past and present....especially for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  May we never forget.
~
My cousin and her husband came up for the weekend, and we could not have had more fun together.  Last year, we vacationed in Quebec with them, but this year we decided to explore stateside.  It's rare to have "couple" friends that we both get along with so well, and it's even more special to me that we're family.  A highlight for all of us was this gorgeous hike:

I also re-purposed an old purse to make myself a "grown-up" key chain.

After a year of being on the look-out, I finally found a tree stump suitable as a side table (and there's a good story behind it).  I realize I'm not breaking new ground here, but it's cheap and fits the bill.

Thanksgiving: the table

Since we will not be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner this year,  I admit I've been having a difficult time not skipping the holiday altogether to all things Christmas.  Though I think there are things that require more planning than the twenty-five days in December, there is something to be said about enjoying each holiday.  Along those lines, I've gathered some of my favorite images to inspire you for your Thanksgiving table.

In the image below, the host took a polaroid picture of guests as they arrived and then used them as place cards.

Inspiration: Petra Bindel Photography

Whether you realize it or not, you probably have at one time admired Petra Bindel's  work.  Her beautiful photography has been featured in design and retail magazines (such as Elle & Urban Outfitters), blogs, and it's all over pinterest.  Looking through her site, I even saw numerous images that I have featured on here.  Her work truly is lovely....if you have time, be sure to check out her site.

Healthy Living- Spaghetti Squash

I think everyone has certain vegetables that they are not as inclined to cook with... right?  For me, squash is that vegetable.  Although I had it growing up, it wasn't a standard vegetable in our house (I don't think my dad was a fan).  Over the pass couple years, I've started integrating it in with our regular meals......and more recently I've experimented with spaghetti squash.  As a winter squash, it  is even better nutritionally for you than summer squashes.  It's also a great substitute for pasta, and lends a hand with any carb cravings.
~

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Cut the ends off your squash, and then cut it length-wise.
3.  Scoop out seeds
4. Place squash on baking sheet face down and cook 45 minutes- 1 hour (depending on the oven and size of squash)
5. The squash is done!  Now just "fork out" the spaghetti.

*Fewer things are more disgusting to me than overcooked squash(yuck), so I prefer mine to be a little crispy.  If you overcooked yours (I've done this many times), just try again:).
* I like to add a little Parmesan to mine.  Martha Stewart does this along with some rosemary and thyme here (I think I'm going to try this next).
