Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Ok guys, I'm really excited about today's post. Jacquelyn from Lark & Linen was so kind as to partake in an interview of sorts. If you haven't already, you should really check out her blog....... a lot of inspiration, beautiful pictures, and a genuine person/talented interior designer behind it all. Here's to the first of my "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" interviews. Thank you Jacquelyn!

Favorite Designer: Vincent Wolf has always been one of my favorite designers. His style is effortless yet pulled together and I'm constantly inspired by his spaces. They're different, yet livable, usable and they all have a sense of home

Biggest Indulgence: I probably eat out a lot more than I should! I love the food experience, the atmosphere, the company...I often justify our dining out excursions by calling them "research". I mean, being an interior designer I do need to know where to go, what's hip and happening and I definitely do get a lot of my inspiration from restaurant design, but I may be pushing it just a tad...but it's a legitimate excuse....right...?
Your proudest DIY: Definitely our pipe bookshelf! I designed it (not going to lie, I was inspired by this guy though) and my boyfriend built it for us when we first moved into our condo back in March!

Your design aesthetic in three simple words: Organic, neutral, & classic

Favorite part about your job: Everything! From meeting clients to industry events to sourcing products to designing layouts- I seriously love it all and could not envision a more perfect job for me.
The number one place you want to travel: There are one million places I want to visit in my lifetime, but I'm really drawn to Thailand. I feel like it's the perfect balance between adventure, culture, and beachy-relaxation. It doesn't seem to get much better than that!
Your daily reads: I probably spend far too much time reading blogs- but there are a few I never miss: dainty and floral, cupcakes and cashmere, because it's awesome, twig & lily, brunch at saks, Alexandra Campbell, luster, and girlcrush are up there ( I swear there's way more though...).
In ten years: I hope to be married, traveling the world with a brood of children ( I want 4, my boyfriend will roll his eyes at me when he reads this though). I also hope to be running my own Interior Design business at that point as well.

One person that inspires you: My mom! She's been through so much in her lifetime and has handled it all with such maturity, with such class and grace. She is truly an inspiration and I really do believe I'm a better person as a result of how she's handled the cards she's been dealt. The woman is 57 and is now talking about going back to school to get her masters. She's unbelievable. She's taught me that nothing is impossible, and if you have good intentions, and set your mind to something you will find the way to make it happen one way or another.
Best advice: Choose happiness. I've said this a million times and I will say it a million more It really is my life motto. The way I see it, you wake up every day and have two choices: be happy, or don't. Don't expect anyone else to make you happy (it's not fair of you to have those expectations of someone)- find out what it is that does it for you and go for it. I really believe it's as simple as that.
