My Weekend: A Dinner Party

This past weekend, I threw a dinner party for a dear friend's 30th birthday.  Originally the party was going to be on this beautiful brick patio surrounded by a garden and fountains.  It was a perfect French garden theme.......but the weather changed our plans.  Memories were still made and it was a good time.  One thing that the Army has taught me is to celebrate life now.  I'm forever grateful for that lesson.  Husbands deploy & friends move......so treasure life and celebrate these moments.

I made the chargers and the #30 sign out of rolled moss.  I'm excited to have the chargers for future parties/holidays (perfect for Easter I think).

Before the party I had discovered that my friend (being from Texas) had a secret love for fried oreos (I had never even heard of these!).   I borrowed a deep fryer and for the first time in my life, tried my hand at deep frying.  I fancied things up a bit by giving it a French label.  Then I kept with the French theme by making macaroons with a maple buttercream filling.
