As promised, today I'm bringing you an easy Christmas DIY.  After being inspired by this image from Rue's Holiday issue,  I decided to try my hand at a garland.  I used the (free) clippings from the Christmas tree farm where we got our tree, floral wire, and wire cutters.  Though I realize a lot of people prefer to buy faux garlands so that they don't have to bother year after year, I love the natural imperfect look of this one.  Not only that, but our house smells fantastic and it cost only $2!  This might just become a yearly tradition.

Ever since I got my tree stump here, I've been seeing tons of pictures online of different ways to style/use a stump.  Although using tree stumps as side tables and coffee tables is nothing new (not that it matters), I'm finding more and more how much I love bringing nature into my house.  I love spending time outdoors with my family, so it makes sense.  Somehow bringing bits of the outdoors into my home has a calming effect on me.

 1.  This might be my favorite styling for a tree stump......three layered slices.  Mine isn't large enough, but I love this all the same. 

If you're anything like me, you might be running behind on your Christmas to-do list.  The advent calendar adds extra pressure because it has to be up and ready by December 1st!  But, I'm determined to not rush through December by putting unnecessary deadlines on myself.  I want to allow time to be still and enjoy the special moments with my love and my little girl....even if it means things are going to be late/imperfect.  With that said, here is an advent calendar round-up for those of us who are "just moving slower".
