Elsewhere
Since making my chalkboard piece, I've been finding look-alikes for sale online. Ends up, I wasn't as innovative as I originally thought.......
~
I saw these over at Olive & Manna
and this one from Terrain.
In other news, it was way fun celebrating R's first Halloween. Somehow she didn't mind the giant headpiece!

Knitted
Hope all my East Coast friends are staying safe and warm! So far, we have not been as affected by Hurricane Sandy- but that didn't keep us from making a last minute run to the store. Be careful out there!

Inspiration: Antique Mirrors
I don't know about you, but sometimes I notice themes in my pins on pinterest. Lately I find myself drawn to large old mirrors, brass if I had to choose. On another note- sorry I've been absent this week, it's been one of those crazy weeks where I haven't felt on top of anything and just needed to take a break to simplify my life. But I'm here, and it's Friday (whew!) and I wish you all the best weekend.

Fall According to my phone
There is something about the Fall......the crisp air, beautiful colors, warm drinks, the clothes, cool runs (my favorite running weather).....that just makes me in a good mood. We've been making a point to get outside and soak in all the outdoor beauty. This weekend we went hiking ......our first one as a family of four. I was sad to notice today that a number of our trees are already starting to look bare. So here is Fall according to my phone, minus this first one from my camera:).

House Tour: Holly Becker's home in Hannover
I was browsing through pinterest and came across Holly Becker's board with images from her own home......wow. It's unsurprising that she has incredible taste, but I was surprised that I had not seen some of them before (how did these slip my notice?). If you've already seen these images, I aplologize for the repeats....but even as repeats these are beautiful.

Ok West Elm, Just Stop
Here's the thing guys: I generally try not to overwhelm you with posts about shops and house items. This is partly for me (I don't want to be consumed with buying more things or wanting things I can't have), and partly because I want this blog to encourage you guys (and me) to achieve beautiful design creatively (through DIY projects, craigslist, and re-purposing). BUT, every now and then I come across things that I find so inspiring that I have to share.....and the new textiles in at West Elm are just that.

Washi Tape and it's many uses
No doubt you are aware of the current washi tape trend/obsession? Well, I'm a huge fan.......especially considering it's array of uses. Here are just a few:
1. art piece
2. furniture dipped legs without the commitment of paint
3. banner
4. removable wall decor for a children's room (love)
5. gift wrapping
6. party decor
7. (more) cool wall art

Black Brick Walls
Ok, so here's one I'm not sure about. I like black walls and I like painted brick walls (white)......but black painted over brick? I can't decide what I think about it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this one.
~
1. This first one I really like, and I'm thinking there's more natural light in person than what appears in this picture.
~
This one is cool, but between the black brick, mid century furniture, and industrial lighting- it gives off a very masculine feel. Too masculine maybe?
~
Here, they did a small wall in a room of white. I like the idea, but I'm not sure if it makes the room look chopped into sections. Thoughts?
~
This picture below signifies what comes to mind when I think of black brick walls......moody, dark, and intriguing. But would I want to live in it? Not sure.....
~
I think this one might be one of my favorites, but that could because it looks more like a tile than a brick.....
Thoughts?

Zara Home Kids
Like many of you, I was really excited about Zara Home coming to the States (Now we just need to work on H&M Home and Toast). Although I did enjoy browsing yesterday, what caught my eye was Zara Home Kids. I love this playful and sweet collection.

If you look closely at this flatware, there are faint animal faces. Cute.
